The Banyan House is named for the nearly 100 year old Banyan Tree that beautifully anchors this tropical oasis. The tree was a gift from Thomas Edison, a family friend of the home’s original owners, Robert & Dorothy Marvin. The home is now owned by Bret and Rosie Dryden, who look forward to sharing their love of Venice Island, and the oasis at Banyan House with guests for years to come. Beautiful long weekend by the coast with the family - location, neighborhood, home, yard all wonderful! Within an hour of arriving my 8 year old asked if we could come back every summer and I said “I hope so!

Would be nice to have screen doors on the patio sliders so you could leave them open. Overall, very happy with our stay and would rent again. In 1986 Chuck & Susan McCormick bought the home and turned it into the beautiful tropical oasis it is today. In December 1989 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the Venezia Park Historic District. During the past 35 years they enhanced every corner of the house, apartments, and grounds, continuing to showcase the property’s beauty. As they approach retirement from the Banyan, they will be missed dearly by guests who come year after year to be graced by their hospitality, fun-loving and adventurous spirits.

Several members of our family return to this area where we all grew up to memorialize a family member who left is way to soon. Banyan house exceeded them all in cleanliness, beauty, necessities, peacefulness, and comfort. I will be renting Banyan house, if possible, whenever I return to Bodega Bay. The home had everything we needed and wanted along with a "feel good" vibe. In 1960, Margaret Thomas purchased the house from Mrs. Wilson and quickly established a shark’s tooth and fossil museum on the first floor.
